Indicating perhaps that the media used for the Reignited Trilogy may in fact be single-layer discs instead. Even so, one wouldn’t think a single remade title, let alone all three, would require as much as 50GB, or even 25GB for that matter if, we’re to hypothesise, each one of the Crash titles totalled anywhere between six and eight gigabytes each. Sane Trilogy, Activision’s previous attempt at remaking a beloved PlayStation trilogy of games, came in at just over 23GB on PS4. A possible explanation could be the likely increased scope/size that the Spyro games would entail, outside of the expected jump in visual fidelity and thus, the cost to data.īlu-Ray discs - the optical media used for PS4’s for example - come in either single-layer or dual-layer with capacity standing at 25GB and 50GB respectively. Though day one downloads are, sadly, nothing new in modern day video games nowadays - and while this note could in fact refer to some manner of a patch, update or accompaniment to what is already on the physical disc - for those purchasing physically, it’s disappointing nonetheless to know that you’re getting isn’t in fact the whole trilogy, but rather one third of it potentially. Even more pressing is the accompanying text alongside which states that the second and third game, Ripto’s Revenge and Year of the Dragon, require download via internet. Rekindle the fire with the original three games, Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Riptos Rage and Spyro: Year of the Dragon. The wording is a bit tricky to fully understand what it means though, it could simply just mean that a patch is required to unlock the other two titles on the disc.Īctivision issued a statement (via PlayStationLifestyle) saying, "The global launch date of Spyro Reignited Trilogy is September 21 and we’re excited for fans to play all three reignited games on that day. Two of the three games in the forthcoming Spyro Reignited Trilogy must be downloaded and are not on the retail disc, according to the game’s official site. Activision has revealed that Spyro Reignited Trilogy will require a day one patch so that players can unlock and play Spyro 2 and 3 but fans are a little unsure whether the game disc even has the other two titles on there.Īccording to the official website, and spotted by Twitter user Wario64, "games 2 and 3 require download via internet", leading people to believe that both games won't actually be present on the disc. ![]()
